When you think of bongs there's a large chance that a classic straight shaped pipe, like our Waterfall bongs, would pop into your head.
While they are one of the most represented designs in pop culture that's not all there is. Bongs come in a range of shapes and designs, while most follow a few mainstream designs, there's really no limit to the type of bongs out there.
Today we’ll be going over some other types of bongs available to help you change up your smoking experience for the better!
Carburettor Bong
Finding out if you have a carburettor bong or not is as simple as checking if it has a hole or not. If your bong does come with a hole, it’s a Carburettor Bong, simple as that. While a carburettor isn’t crucial to your bongs structure it will have some effect on its intensity.
This is because, when you release your finger, the carburettor hole allows fresh air into the pipe. This fresh air forces the smoke into your lungs more rapidly and makes it easier to inhale all the contents of the pipe.
Beaker-Shaped Bong
A beaker bong is like the cousin to our much-loved straight-tube bong. The only difference between these bongs is that the Beaker Bong has a flared cone-like bottom that looks super similar to a beaker that you’d find in your high school science lab.
While the smoking process is exactly the same as a straight tube bong, beaker bongs are actually more stable, thanks to their larger base.
Round Base Bongs
Here’s another cousin to add to the family. A round base bong is similar to both the beaker and straight tube bongs, with its difference coming into play at the base. Like Beaker bongs their base will be wider than the tube and mouthpiece.
They’re more stable than straight-tube bongs, but slightly-less stable than beaker bongs because the flat surface on their base is smaller. Some variations of a Round Base Bong will come with a stand added onto its bottom to create a really stable base, with no chance of spillage.
Multi-Chamber Bong
A Multi-chamber Bong, which is also sometimes called a recycler bong, is similar again to a straight tube bong. In a Multi-Chamber Bong, the straight tube is separated into two chambers and connected by a tube or third chamber. Both upper and lower chambers can hold water, so the smoke is filtered twice throughout your pull. This creates a much cooler, smoother smoke than any other bong design.
Because of their complex structure it means that these types of bongs will be more expensive due to the more complex build design and harder to clean.
Percolator
A Percolator bong, or bubbler bong, can be shaped in pretty much any way you can imagine. The thing that makes them unique is that they contain a percolator. A percolator is a piece of glass that depletes the smoke before it passes through the water and causes a bubbling effect in your bong. Spreading the smoke out in that way helps to filter it better and cool it faster.
You’ll find the percolator at the bottom of your bong (a single-chamber percolator), in another chamber (a multi-chamber percolator), or both (a multi-chamber, multi percolator). Similar to multi-chamber bongs these are also more expensive models that are harder to clean due to their design.
